The opposite end of the telescope from Repository of the Month. These are repos we covered while they were still under the radar, below or on it, yet already shipping hard, with the stars not yet caught up. Where Repo of the Month is the breakout, Starbound is the bet placed before it: a leading indicator, with stars as the laggard it's trying to predict.

It is a forecast, not an award, so we grade ourselves. Each month we lock the standout under-the-radar shipper we covered, then check whether the stars followed.

"Broke out" means the count at least doubled since we covered it. Early days and a small sample, so read it as a hypothesis under test, not a proven edge.

A monthly Starbound pick is the standout repo we covered that month below or on the radar (our read that it was still under-noticed) while its output, commits and releases, was already running hard. We date the call to when we covered it and grade it on star growth since. The "on watch now" board above is the live view: repos shipping well ahead of their stars right now.
